Do you want to join in on service projects, but can’t seem to find the time? Look around; there are opportunities all around you. Here are some recent examples in which the club has participated.
- At the family picnic, members and families joined in cleaning the park of litter left by previous visitors, not only making the place a more enjoyable place to visit, but also following the university’s directive on sustainability and green living.
- As teachers and administrators tripped over the piles of textbooks which were now out of adoption, one of the club members asked if they could be donated to a needy inner city school. Win-win - the suburban school didn’t have to pay to dispose of the books and the Catholic school gained over 5000 books to help with enrichment activities for its students.
- Another member saw a need, did some research and found that his employer had a grant process for good works. He has not heard back to see if the grant application was accepted, but we are praying for a positive response.
As we head into summer and hopefully have some additional time, look around your community and see what service opportunities await. Please contact the club if more man power is needed; we have plenty of members who are great workers.
